Diabetes

New target against Diabetes

We have identified a novel protein, which is a missing link between insulin stimulation of a cell and the cellular response with glucose uptake. This newly discovered factor is an intermediate step, which is activated by insulin stimulation of the cell. It migrates through the cell to the membrane for activation of glucose transport through the membrane. The factor is specific to cells involved in insulin metabolism and Diabetes type II. This is a new target for regulating glucose metabolism, which we have validated by modern knock-down technology.
